This committee is actively advocating for the profession and works closely with our lobbyists: Mayforth Group.

Meet the committee:

Lobbyist – The Mayforth Group 

 For 20 years, the Mayforth Group has advocated for a diverse set of clients across many sectors at both the state and federal levels of government.  The team of Rick McAuliffe, Jeff Taylor, and Ben Shumate have a wealth of experience in government relations, issue advocacy and economic development. The Mayforth Group focuses extensively on state-level advocacy and has cultivated deep relationships with both the executive branch and the General Assembly. The Mayforth Group is in its 3rd year representing RIAPTA, in which the team has helped RIAPTA develop relationships with key legislators who are now carrying RIAPTA’s legislative priorities forward. The Mayforth Group prides itself on being accessible to its clients, and urges any RIAPTA member to reach out with questions at any time.

Programming Committee Mission Statement

To provide an opportunity for local physical therapist  to share their expertise to other therapists in the community through lectures and lab work.

To provide high quality educational programming to Physical Therapist APTA RI members and Non-members that is available locally and affordable.

To provide additional revenue to membership dues to support activities and events sponsored by the RIAPTA.

Committee Chair: 

Report to : Board

Reponsibilities:

  • Set –up committee mtgs. and meeting agendas.

  • Report plans to President and Board

  • Provide President with annual report for Annual Mtg.

  • Oversee planning, organizing and execution of programming

  • Send out Thank you , honorariums etc.


Program Committee Members:

Report to; Committee Chair/ Co-chairs

  • Attend and participate in committee mtg.  in person or by phone

  • Assist Chair/ co -chairs  planning, organizing  and execution of programming

  • May participate in one specific program or all.

Membership Committee Description

Maintain records on membership and estimating trends from review of membership information

Develop and execute strategies to increase membership in the APTA RI

Work to improve the amount and quality of member involvement in Chapter activities by collaborating with related Board initiatives

Be responsible to demonstrate the value of belonging to the APTA RI to the Rhode Island community of physical therapists and physical therapist assistants.
